Audiology is at a pivotal crossroads. While education and clinical training for audiologists have continued to advance, many state audiology practice acts have not kept pace, creating growing challenges for patient access, professional parity, and the long-term viability of the profession.

This webinar, presented by the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA), will bring together leading voices in audiology advocacy and practice to examine the urgent need for state audiology practice act modernization. Panelists will explore how outdated statutory and regulatory language undermines the ability of audiology programs to attract students, threatens patient access to care, and places the profession at a disadvantage relative to other clinical doctoral professions in terms of reimbursement and autonomy.

Attendees will gain insight into the broader policy landscape impacting audiology, including the recent proposed rule from the U.S. Department of Education that omits audiology as a professional degree, increasing competition and overlap from other provider groups, and the downstream effects on patient access to high-quality hearing and balance care. The discussion will also highlight how failure to modernize practice acts jeopardizes the future of the profession, and what audiologists can do now to prepare to drive meaningful change at the state level. This webinar will be set up as a Zoom meeting to allow for a high-level of interaction between panelists and attendees.
