ADA Advocacy Day Delivers Results—Now Let's Keep the Momentum Going
On May 13, 2026, audiologists from across the country came together in Washington, D.C., for ADA’s Advocacy Day, meeting directly with members of Congress and their staff to advance the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act (H.R. 2757/S. 1996) and other critical Medicare reforms that will improve patient access to audiology services.
The message was clear: patients deserve timely access to medically necessary, Medicare-covered hearing and balance care, and audiologists are essential providers within the Medicare system.
The good news? Congress is listening! In the weeks since Advocacy Day, the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act has gained four additional House co-sponsors, demonstrating growing bipartisan support for modernizing Medicare's audiology benefit and removing barriers to care. Every new co-sponsor represents another voice in Congress recognizing the value audiologists provide and the importance of ensuring Medicare beneficiaries have direct access to the services they need.
While this progress is encouraging, there is still work to be done. Legislative success depends on sustained grassroots engagement, and ADA members remain the most powerful advocates for their patients and profession.
Your Voice Matters
One message we hear repeatedly on Capitol Hill is that the most influential voice a member of Congress hears is that of a constituent. While professional advocates and policy experts play an important role, lawmakers want to hear directly from the people who live and work in their districts.
If you attended Advocacy Day, thank you for helping move this legislation forward. If you were unable to join us in Washington, you can still make a significant impact from your home or office. Please take a few minutes to use ADA's Congressional Connect platform to contact your members of Congress and urge them to support the Medicare Audiology Access Improvement Act. The process takes less than five minutes, but the impact can be substantial. We also encourage you to share the tool with your patients, family members, colleagues, and community supporters so they can add their voices to this effort. Every message sent helps reinforce the need for action and demonstrates the broad support behind improving access to audiology care.
Time is Money: Use Yours to Support ADA's Advocacy Efforts
Advocacy requires both time and resources. We understand that not every ADA member can travel to Washington, D.C., attend legislative meetings, or participate in advocacy events, but everyone can play a role in strengthening audiology's voice.
Please consider supporting ADA's Advocacy Fund or Political Action Committee (PAC) with a contribution that reflects your commitment to the profession. One way to think about your support is to donate the equivalent of one hour or one day of your clinical time. A financial investment equal to the value your professional services can help advance legislation that benefits your patients, your practice, and the future of audiology.
Whether you give your time, your expertise, or a financial contribution, your support helps ensure that audiology maintains a strong and effective presence where healthcare policy decisions are made.
