ADA Advocacy in Action in March

In March, the Academy of Doctors of Audiology (ADA) continued its strong advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill, championing improved access to audiology services for Medicare beneficiaries. Representing ADA, Dr. Amyn Amlani, Dr. Jill Davis, Dr. Alicia Spoor, and Stephanie Czuhajewski met with lawmakers and congressional staff on March 10th and 11th to advocate for the Medicare Audiology Patient Choice Act and other priorities and ensure patient access to audiology services and improved coverage/reimbursement.

Throughout their meetings, the group highlighted the critical need for legislative action to remove barriers that limit patients’ ability to receive timely, comprehensive hearing and balance care. Their advocacy emphasized the importance of recognizing audiologists as essential providers and ensuring Medicare policies reflect the full scope of services audiologists are trained to deliver.

Building on this momentum, ADA joined forces with colleagues from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) on March 12th. This unified effort amplified the profession’s voice, demonstrating a shared commitment across organizations to improving outcomes for patients nationwide.

The week marked a powerful example of collaboration and leadership in action. Through direct engagement with policymakers, ADA and its partners reinforced the value of audiology care and the urgent need for reform, making a meaningful impact for patients and the profession.
