The ADA applauds CMS for implementing new data reporting requirements for Medicare Advantage Organizations (MAO) beginning program year 2024, which include new or increased reporting requirements for plan enrollment, payments to providers, out-of-pocket costs to beneficiaries, prior authorization, network adequacy, and utilization of supplemental benefits. This action will help address several of MedPAC’s concerns and will result in greater transparency and more effective management of the Medicare Advantage program. However, additional steps will be required to foster excellent program oversight, responsible stewardship, and healthy competition, particularly as it relates to the governance of Medicare Advantage supplemental hearing benefits.
