This is a full-time audiology position, and you will be responsible for a range of daily job responsibilities that revolve around assessing, diagnosing, and treating individuals with hearing disorders. Here are the typical daily job responsibilities of audiologists in private practice:

Essential Functions:

  • We conduct patient assessments, including taking a patient's medical history, discussing their symptoms, and evaluating their hearing and balance issues.
  • Complete various hearing tests, such as pure-tone audiometry, speech audiometry, and tympanometry, are performed to assess the patient's hearing ability and identify the type and degree of hearing loss.
  • Based on the test results, audiologists diagnose the patient's hearing or balance disorders and discuss the findings with the patient.
  • Counseling patients regarding their diagnosis, treatment options, and the potential impact of their condition on their daily lives.
  • Assist patients in selecting appropriate hearing aids, fitting them, and providing instructions on how to use and maintain them.
  • Once the hearing aids are selected and fitted, the audiologist programs and calibrates them according to the patient's unique hearing profile. They adjust settings to optimize sound quality and provide the best hearing experience.
  • Offer various tinnitus management strategies for patients with tinnitus (ringing in the ears), including counseling and sound therapy.
  • Perform in-house hearing aid maintenance or repair service with our manufacturer.
  • Conduct follow-up appointments to monitor treatment progress, adjust hearing aids, and address any concerns or questions from the patient.
  • Keeping detailed records of patient assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in audiology through continuing education and professional development.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, such as otolaryngologists and speech-language pathologists, to provide comprehensive patient care.
  • The person responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of their clinic or practice. Partner with the team to strategize community outreach efforts to generate new patient referrals.
  • Educating patients and their families on hearing conservation, communication strategies, and improving their quality of life despite hearing or balance issues.

Qualifications/Requirement:

An AuD, M.A., or M.S. degree is preferred. A fourth-year solid student with a current Hearing Aid Dispenser License (a plus) or eligibility for a State of Iowa and/or Illinois dispensing license will be considered.

  • Strong diagnostic and hearing aid software/product experience is a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills that allow effective working relationships with diverse patients, colleagues, and vendor populations.
  • Empathy and a genuine desire to help individuals with hearing impairment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A self-starter with curiosity, creativity, and detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with hearing aid manufacturers and technology.

Salary Range: Base salary between 65,000 - 70,000 annually, plus quarterly commission. A $7,500 Bonus is allotted for sign-on or toward relocation.
